Tournament Summary: After placing 2nd in the Tom Radesic tournament and then going 2-0 in the first few weeks of the regular season, the Surge expected to place high in this tournament. Unfortunately the results did not meet the expectations. Although they controlled the ball better then 50% of the time (my opinion) in each of the games, played hard, and made a lot of shots on goal, things just didn't seem to "click". Passes went short and shots just couldn't find there way into the net. Oh well - I think everyone enjoyed hanging around Clearlake a lot and we had a nice barbeque at Coach Mikes place on the lake. Summary of each game: Game 1: Surge - 1 / Sonoma Storm - 2 Kristy scored on a penalty kick midway through the second half. Game 2: Surge 1 / CVU Thunderbolts - 1 Jessica made her first goal of the season. Game 3: Surge - 0 / Eureka Lions - 0 Very tough, scrappy game. I think I must have seen about 5 or 6 of the Lions get carried off during the game (no Surge players got carried off though). |
